为了艺术学校的重新定义
Towards a redefinition of the art school
主讲人： 林荫庭 （温哥华）
Speaker: Ken Lum (Vancouver-based)
Ken Lum is a Vancouver-based visual artist, curator and art educator. His art is concerned with issues of identity, especially as they relate to image production in contemporary urban society. Working across multiple media, Lum’s art aims to challenge our fixed ideas about who we are when faced with the processes and pressures of cultural and political assimilation. Lum has participated in many prestigious international art exhibitions including Documenta XI, Shanghai Biennale, Sydney Biennale, Carnegie International, the Sáo Paulo Bienal, Istanbul Biennale and Gwangju Biennale. Lum is also an active writer who has published in many art catalogues and leading art journals and magazines and was the Founding Editor of Yishu: Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art.
林荫庭是一个加拿大籍的视觉艺术家，策划人和教育工作者。他的艺术涉及身份/个性的问题，尤其是关于当代都市社会的图像产品的个性问题。林荫庭的创作跨越多种媒介，旨在挑战的是，当面对文化和政治的同化这个过程和在这种压迫下，人们关于”我（们）是谁”这个问题的固有观念。林荫庭参加过很多著名的国际艺术展览，包括第十四届德国卡塞尔文献展，上海双年展，悉尼双年展，卡内基国际展，圣保罗双年展，伊斯坦布尔双年展和光州双年展等。林荫庭也在很多艺术出版物及艺术周刊和杂志上撰写过很多文章，同时他还是《艺术：中国当代艺术期刊》的创刊编辑。

《武汉影像交流》是造实验工作室的一个将长期进行的项目，目的是为武汉及其它地区的“个人影像工作者”提供一个
交流的平台。
我们将不定期地举办作品展映与讨论会；及分阶段进行各类作品的专题展映，也将不定期邀请外地“个人影像工作者”
参加交流展映活动。建立作品档案，阶段性地印制作品图录。
我们特别征集这个活动的参与者。具体事项如下：
一，你的作品可以是任何类型的。
二，你的作品可以是在任何时间完成的。
三，你的作品可以是以任何介质制作的，请将其制作成数据文件。
四，请首先通过E-mail联系我们，向我们提供以下资料：
1，作品资料，包括作品标题、作品介质、作品时间长度、创作时间，以及作品内容简介；
2，个人资料，包括姓名、职业、联系方式。
3，作品的数据压缩文件。

AWAKE ASLEEP
醒着的，睡着的
Concept
The work is a continous communication with the public and consists of switching on and off an electronic device (e.g. LED, a lightbox, a lightning space or a light commercial) through the internet or just by the information given by myself when I wake up or go to bed for the duration of my entire life. Awake = the light is put on, Asleep = the light is put out. The work has as a basis the idea of “materialization” of human (artist) existance in public and private spaces using the “logics” or “basics” of comunication with electronic devices or artificial environments, namely the first step into the representation system: I and 0 。
概念
这个作品是一个不断与公众进行的交流。这个作品通过网络，或经由在我一生当中醒着、睡着的时候给出的信号来启动、关闭一组电子装置（比如发光二极管，一个灯箱，一个闪电空间或一个商业广告灯）。醒着=光亮；睡着=光灭。
这个作品的一个基本理念是人（艺术家）在公共与私人空间中的存在的”物化”，与电子装置或者人造环境进行”逻辑”或”基本”的交流产生”物化”，也即是变成我这个作品的展现的第一步：”I”和”0″。
